As the in-house Senior Communications Director, member of the management team at Channel 5 (now 5) and Ben Frow’s comms advisor, Rich helped transform the reputation and perception of Channel 5 with media, opinion formers and industry, overcoming its long-term legacy to gain extensive critical acclaim, build new audiences and win multiple awards.
Managing a team of 20 with full responsibility across brand, content, corporate, crisis, internal comms and customer services, he oversaw industry-leading opinion former campaigns, hugely upscaled and positive corporate profiling, an in-depth awards-strategy and worked closely with the Public Affairs team to build advocacy in Westminster.
During his tenure, the channel saw the biggest growth in PSB audiences including a huge uplift in upmarket viewers, won several awards including Channel of the Year at Edinburgh and collected a first-ever PR industry award for the “Nundo’s” stunt, conceived by Rich.
Rich’s remit at Viacom (now Paramount) also extended to oversight of other UK channels including MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. indie house has subsequently supported Channel 5 and Paramount on strategic corporate initiatives including brand launches and the TV Festival at Edinburgh.
